Lake Dallas has a population of 6,650 (NCTCOG est. January 2005)
and is the home of many prospering businesses. These businesses range
from large industries such as Video Plus and Golden Distributing, to a
wide variety of services and restaurants. Lake Dallas is also home to
the Lakeview Marina, one of the few marinas on Lewisville Lake.
There has been a resurgence of residential housing in Lake Dallas. The
most recent growth added the subdivisions of Thousand Oaks, Lakebridge,
and Jackson Ranch. The rapid growth of the past several years supported
local business and allowed the city to purchase street bonds without
raising taxes. The city hall and police facilities are located at 212
Main Street. Included in the city hall is a large community room
and a full commercial kitchen.
The Lake Dallas park system also serves the entire Lake Cities
population with City Park being available for area soccer, Community
Park being home to the Lake Cities Library and Lake Dallas Community
Center, and Willow Grove Park spanning a large part of the Lake Dallas
shoreline.
Lake Dallas will continue to see residential growth and will reach a
population of 7,500 residents. Business opportunities, many of
which are for small business entrepreneurs, abound in Lake Dallas.
Plans to revitalize Main Street will expand the commercial base of Lake
Dallas, and the Swisher Road extension to Little Elm (construction is
scheduled to begin Spring 2005) will provide additional commercial and
residential opportunities.
Lake Dallas is a home rule city, governed by a City Manager/Council form
of government. The City Council is composed of the Mayor and a five
member council. The City Council is proud to support a small town
atmosphere and together with the city employees are open and responsive
to citizens' needs
